At leafplanner, we are constantly looking for ways to improve your experience and, more importantly, protect your data. As we grow, we are moving beyond simple compliance. By implementing Auth0, we are shifting from traditional, high-friction security to a modern, identity-first posture. While many in our industry still rely on legacy password resets and optional security layers, we are setting a new standard by making phishing-resistant authentication the baseline for all our clients.

That’s why we are excited to announce a major upgrade to our authentication system. We’ve partnered with Auth0, a global leader in identity security, to bring you a smoother, more flexible, and more secure login experience.

Key Benefits of the New Experience

By moving to Auth0, we are upgrading the engine that handles your identity. For you, this means a more reliable and modern interface. For us, it means we can deliver the enterprise-grade features you’ve been asking for—faster and more securely.

1. Hello, Passkeys!

We know that managing a different password for every service is a headache. To fix this, we are introducing Passkeys for all leafplanner clients.

• What are they? Passkeys allow you to sign in using the same biometrics or security features you already use on your devices, like FaceID, TouchID, or your Windows Hello PIN.

• The Benefit: They are faster than passwords and virtually impossible to phish because the credential never leaves your device. You get a one-tap login experience without sacrificing a shred of security.

2. Enterprise SSO (Available Add-on)

For our corporate partners who need to centralize user management, our new infrastructure now allows us to offer Single Sign-On (SSO) as a premium feature add-on.

• The Benefit: Your team can log into leafplanner using your existing corporate credentials (such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or Google Workspace).

• Efficiency: This streamlines onboarding and ensures your internal security policies can be aligned with leafplanner.

• Note: SSO is available as a specialized configuration for Enterprise accounts. Please reach out to learn more about adding this to your plan.

Raising the Bar: Mandatory MFA

As part of this transition, we are making a significant change to our security posture. To ensure the highest level of protection for every account, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is now required for all users.

While we previously offered MFA as an option, the modern digital landscape requires a more proactive approach. Data breaches globally are frequently the result of compromised passwords; MFA remains the single most effective way to prevent unauthorized access.

• Best-in-Class Defense: Even if a password is ever compromised, MFA provides a critical second layer of defense that stops attackers in their tracks.

• Peace of Mind: By making MFA standard for everyone, we eliminate weak links and ensure a hardened security environment for the entire leafplanner community.

What to Expect

The next time you log in, you will see our refreshed sign-in screen. You will have the option to set up your Passkey for a passwordless future, and you will be guided through a simple, one-time setup for MFA if you haven’t enabled it previously.
